{"id":162780,"date":"2013-08-01T11:56:28","date_gmt":"2013-08-01T18:56:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/2013.vancouver.wordcamp.org\/?p=162780"},"modified":"2013-08-01T11:56:28","modified_gmt":"2013-08-01T18:56:28","slug":"accommodations-transportation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vancouver.wordcamp.org\/2013\/accommodations-transportation\/","title":{"rendered":"Accommodations &amp; Transportation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hey everyone!<\/p>\n<p>With WordCamp Vancouver (<a title=\"Tickets\" href=\"https:\/\/2013.vancouver.wordcamp.org\/tickets\/\">you have your ticket already, right<\/a>? less than 50 left! hurry up!) fast approaching, we wanted to share some important information with you regarding\u00a0accommodation\u00a0and\u00a0transportation.<\/p>\n<p>As several WordCamp Vancouver speakers, sponsors and\u00a0attendees will be travelling from out of town, we thought we\u2019d give you a few recommendations for\u00a0accommodations in our lovely city of Vancouver,\u00a0as well as\u00a0transportation\u00a0information.<\/p>\n<h2>Arriving in Vancouver<\/h2>\n<p>If you are arriving via air, it\u2019s inexpensive and easy to get from the airport to any Downtown destination\u00a0taking the Canada Line rapid transit rail link from the airport. In almost all cases the\u00a0cost from the airport is about $9 and $3 on the way back. Ticketing machines accept bills, coins, debit and credit cards.\u00a0It takes about 30 minutes to get from the Airport to Downtown.\u00a0Cabs from the airport to\u00a0Downtown\u00a0usually cost about $40 and take about the same time, sometimes longer when there\u2019s bad traffic. Public transit in Vancouver is offered by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.translink.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Translink<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google Maps<\/a>\u00a0offers reliable public transit directions.<\/p>\n<h2>Hotel Recommendations<\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019ve gathered a few hotel recommendations for you:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandmanhotels.ca\/hotels\/vancouver-city-centre\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sandman Hotel<\/a>, rooms starting around $160 per night<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lonsdalequayhotel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\nLonsdale Quay<\/a>, rooms starting around $170 per night<a title=\"Rosedale on Robson\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rosedaleonrobson.com\/\"><br \/>\nRosedale on Robson<\/a>, rooms starting around $170 per night<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.holidayinnvancouverdowntown.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Holiday Inn Vancouver<\/a>, rooms starting around $175 per night<br \/>\n<a title=\"Hotel Le Soleil\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hotellesoleil.com\/\">Hotel Le Soleil<\/a>, rooms starting around $186\u00a0per night<br \/>\n<a title=\"metropolitan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.metropolitan.com\/vanc\/\">Metropolitan<\/a>, rooms starting around $229\u00a0per night<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/vancouver.opushotel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Opus Boutique Hotel<\/a>, rooms starting around $270<br \/>\n<a title=\"fairmont vancouver\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fairmont.com\/hotel-vancouver\/\">Fairmont Vancouver<\/a>, rooms starting around $360 per night<\/p>\n<p>All of these hotels, with the exception of Lonsdale Quay (which is a quick seabus ride away) are within walking distance of the WordCamp venue.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a number of great apartments\/rooms for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbnb.ca\/s\/Vancouver--BC--Canada?checkin=16-08-2013&amp;checkout=18-08-2013\" target=\"_blank\">rent on AirBnb<\/a>, raging from $45 to $250+ per night. While we cannot recommend specific rentals, we&#8217;ve heard great things about using AirBnb and do recommend the service as a whole.<\/p>\n<h3>Transportation information<\/h3>\n<p>As a reminder, the venue for WordCamp Vancouver 2013 is\u00a0BCIT Downtown Campus located at\u00a0555 Seymour Street &#8211;\u00a0Vancouver, V6B 3H6. The venue is in the heart of Downtown Vancouver and within walking distance of several hotels.<\/p>\n<p>We recommend walking, biking or using public transit to get to BCIT Downtown Campus. If you use public transit, please get off at Granville station (using expo\/millenium line) or Vancouver City Center (using Canada line).<\/p>\n<p>If you are arriving by car,\u00a0\u00a0please note that the BCIT parking lot will be closed on August 17th. Including the airport, venue, the after party location and all of the recommended hotels from above. We&#8217;ve also added a number of recommended activities, restaurants and attractions for out of own attendees.
